What is a Biological Inoculant?
Microbial inoculants are agricultural amendments that use beneficial microorganisms such a fungi and bacteria to promote plant health and nutrition. While inoculants can be applied to crops to improve nutrient utilisation, such as nitrogen, they can also be used to promote plant growth by stimulating plant hormone production.
Bacterial inoculants are commonly referred to as plant growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR).
What is an Endophyte?
An endophyte is a bacterium or fungus that lives within a plant. They have been found to exist in all plants. Endophytes are knows to enhance growth, and improve the plants ability to tolerate stresses such as drought.
The C active Technology developed by thinkbio consists of bacterial endophytes selected to improve nutrient efficiency in crops, especially nitrogen.
